As my personal tribute to the old Studio Plesungan land, I created this long durational performance, taking the teak tree (jati) as the subject of the work and the philosophical grounding. This work tries to push the performing bodies to experience the process of “shedding the self” as a way to let go of the distinctive sense of self and find the meaning of self as relational.

This performance presented 7 performers with 7 dead tree logs that were chopped by construction work. These performers gradually passed several phases (self-burying, mud-covering,hair-cutting) while bringing the logs to the final phase of the cremation process for these tree bodies, which went for 12 hours.
