In 2025, I moved from living inside Studio Plesungan to renting a house in a housing complex. All of a sudden, I experience how my origin, my religion, my gender, even the look of my bicycle, define whether I can or cannot be connected to others.

“Buffalo Gathering” is a work that I started to go beyond my own self, allowing the existence and participation of other people. I offer this work to them as a space-time for all of us to experience the shifting meanings of bond and togetherness. Banyan root is present here not only as a symbol of unity (like how Indonesia takes it), but also as a material that reminds us that in nature, trees' deepest roots will be connected with other roots, and how our existence is also bound to other existence.
