TAMAN INGATAN

(2026)

A first version of “Taman Ingatan” (Garden of Memory) was made as a final pilgrimage to the house where I grew up for eighteen years. The work explores how space can become a site for the body to recall memory. Through the presence of my body in the space, I relived the memory inside of myself. The body thus becomes a medium for recalling memories that are slowly fading.

I am in the process of thinking to expand, not only the scale of the work, but also the scope of memory. I am interested in how performance can become a collective pilgrimage, which becomes a momentum to recall the collective loss of memory in different spaces, which may also serve as a critical response to the ahistoric condition of society, where currently people cannot sense a space not only by its current existence, but also as a site that contains different layers of history.
